Week 3 - Design Document Conclusion and Prototyping

Design Document Conclusion

During this week, the group concluded and perfected the Design Document according to the suggestions of professor Pedro Santos. Firstly, the scenarios were rewritten to ensure that the feelings of the Personas were explicitly described. This allowed for richer scenarios that provide a lot more guidance for development. Secondly, the Gameplay Loops were enriched with Flowcharts. We created two flowcharts that described the loops in a way that made them easier to analyze. The group ensured that these charts covered all of the possible outcomes when climbing a tower and when fighting enemies. To further describe the feel of the game, the group created a table that contains some tentative classes for the characters, as well as describing their abilities. This completes the flowcharts by describing exactly what kind of ability can a player select. Finally, the group tweaked the Focus Group members’ descriptions to include some important information, such as age, profession, and favorite games, always making sure they remained anonymous.

Prototyping

After delivering the Design Document, the group will now focus on creating Low-Fidelity Prototypes and getting feedback from both the team and the Focus Group members. That will be followed by a technology feasibility study that is essential to determine what kind of tools the team will need to start creating Deuce’s Silent Tower.
