Week 3 - Bernardo Pinto

A delivery was due on Tuesday, and all work done this week was until then.

We finished the "Gameplay loops" and "The first tweet" Saturday morning and tasked everyone with finishing the "Focus group", meaning the design document would be ready for review.

Monday afternoon I called my lab's teacher and asked for a review on points we were unsure of. This revealed quite a lot more problems I had hoped for. Mainly:

  •     1 of the scenarios was written in both present and past tenses;
  •     The scenarios weren't specific enough; How many enemies? What abilities were used? How did the players feel?
  •     The gameplay loops were just walls of text and didn't take advantage of choices. We condensed and revised a few of them, and then created flowcharts for them;
  •  Some important details were missing for the focus group: age, job and favorite games.

We got a second (shorter review) on Tuesday during the lab class and tidied up some things (mainly the "Gameplay loops"). Then created a table with possible characters and their respective abilities, and exported a table of them to the design document.

After a final revision, David took care of submitting it.

We will most likely take a break, and I will eventually, during this week, create new cards on Trello and estimate them, so we can start prototyping.
