Week 5 - David Pereira - 1st Dev Cycle Conclusion
First Development Cycle Conclusion
This week, the first Dev Cycle was concluded. The Prototypes were reviewed by both the group and the Focus Group members. All the Prototypes and respective feedback were then compiled and added to the Design Document, including videos demonstrating the Prototypes (Link to the video of my Prototype).
To finalize the Cycle, the group focused on researching what would be the most appropriate technology to support the needs of the project. After looking at several possibilities and their strengths and weaknesses, the group settled on using Unity, due to having a large number of available resources to aid in the development and due to the fact that the majority of group members were already familiar with it.
Some toolkits and plugins were also taken into account, however, most of them have steep licensing fees that discourage their use in this project.
Overall, I am very satisfied with the outcome of the First Development Cycle. The game is taking shape, and having students from other universities to discuss the concept with, has certainly helped define the idea and create a setting that meets our goals.
