Week 7 - Bernardo Pinto

As promised, we had 2 workshop  sessions. My role was the facilitator, moving along the workshop, asking questions, explaining things and making sure everyone was on the same boat.

Overall they went well, with some very good ideas and discussion, but also with some mediocre ones for the ideas of characters abilities.
Looking back, perhaps we should have also used thinking hats (which worked incredibly well for general ideas) for the creation of ideas for the character abilities. Maybe it would have taken too much time though, so that would have to be taken into account.

After the workshops were done, it was time to analyze them. To make things faster and easier, we divided them work. In my case, I got the analysis of the Kahoot questions and explain our goals and procedure for our workshops. Of course that afterwards we all got together and reviewed each other's work.

We also had to update the design document: Game-play loops, scenarios, conceptual models and control & presentation. The same strategy was used and I took care of adding the conceptual models section.

Lastly, we got together to discuss the development of the prototype. In the end, we divided it into some initial tasks:

  • Menus & Tower loop
  • Turn logic & Multiplayer
  • Combat Interface
  • Inner working of Characters & Abilities

I worked in the "Inner working of Characters & Abilities", that will serve as the base for the game logic, that will be conected to the interface and other things such as the grid. Speaking of which, maybe we should have also included the grid logic already, as it is quite important too.
