Week 9 - Daniel Correia

This week we had to focus on finishing a presentable prototype and getting feedback. We still had a lot to do with too little time. I worked on giving some kind of visual feedback to the players when both have decided their actions. Previously at the end of the round the characters simply teleported to their chosen positions and the abilities weren’t even visible, this all also happened in a split second so you couldn’t even see the order in which it all happened. To improve the visual feedback, I started by making the characters move by sliding to their position instead of teleporting and, when they activate an ability, on the grid will show the affected area of the ability for a certain time. With this we could already see and understand some of what is happening and in what order but there still missed a lot. Because I didn’t have enought time needed to try to implement animations, I created a combat logger to at least have everything in text that the player could see the order in case he missed it and the abilities’ names. Apart from this, I also had to work on fixing and helping others to fix a lot of bugs.
