Week 10 - David Pereira - Progression and Implementation

This week, the group focused on continuing the implementation of the game and discussed game progression.

Progression

The progression of Deuce’s Tower was already established: Players would pair up with a partner, choose a Character, and start battling increasingly difficult enemies until they reached the end of the Tower. After beating tower levels, Players are rewarded with character upgrades (either more powerful spells or increased stats and survivability) that help them beat the enemies of upper levels. After beating a Tower, a permanent reward is unlocked (in this case, the Character that was defeated on the last level, or new Special Powers). The next step is to prepare a document with this information.

Final Game Implementation

Another major focus of the group at this stage is polishing the Game and add the necessary elements that will increase game feel and overall playability. So, the group divided the tasks into cards, and each member resolved some. I was tasked with getting sounds for the abilities (to aid players in understanding the battle state), updating the game assets with the new assets created by the artists, and improving the Ping system (mainly some quality of life changes, such as a different color for each player, and allowing to remove the Ping from the tiles altogether).

Continuation

We will be implementing more Game Progression aspects into the Design Document, and continue polishing the final Game, in preparation for MoJo.
